About
Wore many hats in product development, user research experience design, and engineering at a noninvasive brain computer interface company.

(01) Kernel Mobile App
Streamlining study signup & screening
In order to recruit participants for Kernel’s device studies, dense human study IRB protocols for participant screening and consent are required. In user testing stages, intake sessions would run overtime due to onboarding paperwork.
How do we digitize and streamline the participant study onboarding stage in the Kernel app?

Outcomes
Procedural disclosure
I designed and coded simple screening pages using HTML and JS to minimize information overload, while maintaining full study disclosure.
Pacing onboarding stages, the further the user progressed in onboarding, the more granular each page became.

(02) Headset Experience Design
Kernel partners with different immersive and experiential technology companies.
For each study, from gaming to VR, I led the experience design and user research. These public studies attracted over 200 participants.
Projects included: design for headset tooling increasing usage for diverse users, Aimlabs FPS gaming, Picolabs VR, Cybin ketamine trials, among many others.

Outcomes
Alongside designing partnership user experiences, as a member of the neurotech team I conducted participant study sessions. Worked in method design, pilot studies and public studies.

Conclusions
Across digital app experience, to mechanical component features, to wearable product development, my work at Kernel was driven by broadening accessbility to cutting-edge technology and wellness.
